Mrs. Dorothy
Kirkpatrick

Founder & Piano Teacher

I studied piano and theory beginning at age 8 with members of my family. Mrs. Antoinette Roebuck continued my training into college level after which I studied music theory at the University of Texas in Austin, and later attained National Certification through my studies in Music Theory, Music History, Performance practice and Piano Pedagogy at Houston Baptist University. I also studied with Don Harris, MM for 5 years and continued studies with John Hendrickson, MM from Rice, Shepherd School of Music, who was Artist in Residence at Houston Baptist University until his retirement. I have performed solo for weddings, and receptions. For the past 30+ years, I have accompanied soloists, ensembles, and choirs. I currently accompany adult choir at Epiphany Lutheran Church, where I am a member and serve as organist part-time.

I am a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers/American College of Musicians, Past President of Cypress Creek Music Teachers Association (1st Vice President and Student Affiliate Event chair, Local Ensemble Chair, Duo/Concerto Chair and am a director of one of the ensembles that perform at the TMTA State Convention), Texas Music Teachers Association, and the Music Teachers National Association, as well as the National Federation of Music clubs. I am a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music in Piano by the Music Teachers National Association.

I started with Piano Lessons on **

My purpose in teaching is to help students develop their love for music. For those with a desire for a career in music, I endeavor to light the pathway. For others, I wish to give the ability to play the piano for personal pleasure for a life time.
